Proper design and Search Engine Optimization of your website, as incredibly important and under utilized as it is, is still the easy part; it is the links from other RELEVANT websites that makes the difference between page 3 and the top of page 1. It is also the most difficult and time consuming aspect of website promotion.

- Selectively and temporarily utilize PPC advertising to boost your visability for search terms you are struggling in.

Bed and Breakfast Promotion - Free Directory Listings
Stage three
Once you have your website designed advantageously and properly optimized to maximize search engine placement, the next step is to get listed in appropriate free directories and search engines.
- 3 Major Search Engines - Google, Yahoo and Bing
- Google Places
- Local Pages They say if you register here you get listed at bing and yahoo as well. After you hi tthe submit/ verify button it takes awhile to actually make the call.
- Bing Local
- Yahoo Local Yahoo lets you verify by email.
- Bing Local Near the finish they call to confirm. After you click the verify button, a number shows which you then have to tell the caller.
- Trip Advisor - good but costly
- Flip Key - costly but gets you listed on the TA site under the vacation rentals tab. Few americans use flipkey directly though.
- Search Site. Easy link to website.
- YP - Yellow Pages. Near the finish they call to confirm. After you click the verify button, a number shows which you then have to tell the caller.
- Yellow Book
- WP - White Pages (now Localeze/nuestar) a BS listing. don't bother. 240ish for a year. ??? No web link on free/basic listing
- True Yellow - you don't get a webite link for free, but they don't verify phone number either.
- Angies List - no phone verification needed. Not really appropriate for B&B's but does work.
- Yelp - a must. be sure to get all the through to the business listing, first the personal listing then you have an option to list your business.
- Self Growth - Lots of Self Help aids and guides. But to get to the website submission page. click the verify email link, look at bottom of next page for "websites". Then submi your website. They say a reciprocal link gives you better exposure. Do if you can.
- DMOZ - maybe they will list you

Stage Two
Did you say you wanted to do some of the hard work yourself? Well follow these links or paste the address in your address bar. Most will take you to a page where you can list your B&B, exchange links with another B&B or at least in the case of the first one, Pay for a link to your B N B.
